Audio Editor

The Audio Editor for media allows you to record audio just like the Audio Editor for phrases.

To record an audio file, you must plug a microphone to your computer. Before recording, properly calibrate the automatic record levels of the microphone. Instead of relying on speakers, Avaya recommends you to use headphones while recording. For more information. see Configuring the Microsoft Speech SDK for Microphone Input.

The Audio Editor has the following attributes and options:

Enter descriptive comments related to the audio file. This text is only displayed in the Audio Editor.

Audio Information

  • Local
  • External

Select one option:

  • To use an existing audio file, select Local. Dialog Designer enables the [File name] Browse button to navigate to the file you want to use.
  • To use a file residing on some other application server, select External.

URL Base

If you have selected the External option in the Audio Information field, enter the URL of the file location.

File Name

Enter a unique and relevant name for the audio file.

Format

(Display only) This field displays the audio format of the selected audio file.

Note:

The Dialog Designer 5.0 supports only 8KHz 8-bit mono formats.

Play button

Click this button to play the audio file.

Note:

This button is inactive until you record or import an audio file, or get an external audio file with the Test button.

Stop button

Click this button to stop recording or playing an audio file.

Note:

This button is active only when recording or playing an audio file.

Record button

Click to start recording an audio file.

Note:

Dialog Designer does not support recording for external audio phrases.
