Dialog Designer Menu and Toolbar Options

There are several main menu and toolbar options that are specific to Dialog Designer. The following table presents a quick reference and summary of these options.

This table presents only the options that are specific to Dialog Designer. Generic Eclipse options are not included.

Speech Project

Speech Perspective only. Opens the wizard to create a speech project.

CCXML File Editor

Call Control Perspective only. Opens an editor to edit CCXML files.

JSP File Editor

Call Control Perspective only. Opens an editor to edit JSP files.

Call Control Project

Call Control Perspective only. Opens a wizard to create a call control project.

Database Operation File

Call Control or Speech Perspective. Opens the wizard to create a database operation file (can be used in either a speech application or call control application).

Grammar File

Speech Perspective only. Opens the wizard to create a grammar file.

Media file

Speech Perspective only. Opens a wizard to create media files like SMIL file containing audio, video, prompts, text and graphics. The media elements can also be used in the call control applications.

Phraseset file

Speech Perspective only. Opens the wizard to create a phraseset file.

  • File > New menu

Prompt file

Speech Perspective only. Opens the wizard to create a prompt file.

Web service operation file

Call Control or Speech Perspective. Opens the wizard to create a Web service operation file (can be used in either a speech application or call control application).

Start Tomcat

Call Control or Speech Perspective. Starts the Tomcat servlet engine, which is required to simulate applications in Dialog Designer.

Stop Tomcat

Call Control or Speech Perspective. Stops the Tomcat servlet engine, which is required to simulate applications in Dialog Designer.

Restart Tomcat

Call Control or Speech Perspective. Restarts the Tomcat servlet engine, which is required to simulate applications in Dialog Designer.

Update Context option

Call Control or Speech Perspective. Updates the Tomcat server with the current application information, known as the context definition. This action is sometimes required when you update the application but changes do not get communicated to the Tomcat server. One indication that this might be required is if you get a "General Error 404" message.

  • Right-click Project in Navigator, and select Dialog Designer > Update Context.

Generate option

Call Control or Speech Perspective. Generates the project code.

  • Right-click Project in Navigator, and select Dialog Designer > Generate.

Validate option

Call Control or Speech Perspective. Validates the Call Flow.

  • Right-click Project in Navigator, and select Dialog Designer > Generate.
  • Expand project in Navigator
  • Right-click flow/main.flow file, and select Dialog Designer > Validate.


 

Event Type Editor

Opens the Event Type Editor.

Add row after

Adds a row to a grammar table, inserting the new row after the selected row.

Add row before

Adds a row to a grammar table, inserting the new row before the selected row.

Add column after

Adds a column to a grammar table, inserting the new column after the selected column.

Add column before

Adds a column to a grammar table, inserting the new column before the selected column.

Delete row

Deletes the selected row from a grammar table.
