Install New System
Software

The INTUITY AUDIX LX is shipped from the factory with the latest software.
If needed, you can install new software on a new machine or on an existing
system to bring the system software up to the latest version.
Preparation
- If you are installing to an existing system or cutting over an existing
machine, plan to do the installation during low usage hours.
- If you are installing on an existing system, verify that you have
a backup of the system information. See Backing
Up System Files (Attended) for more information.
- Obtain switch integration information or configuration notes before
beginning the installation.
- Determine the following information for the INTUITY AUDIX LX, either
through account worksheets or your project manager:
- System name. The system name cannot exceed 7 characters if you
plan to use Overlan (C-LAN) switch integration.
- IP address, Domain, DNS. This must be provided by the customer.
- Feature usage, such as outcalling, fax, and Internet Messaging
- Switch integration information, such as switch IP address, extension
numbers, and length
Installing the Software
- Insert the INTUITY AUDIX LX software CD into the CD drive.
- Shutdown and restart the machine. If possible, use the Utilities menu
and select Shutdown System. Then press the Power button to restart the
system.
- If you cannot get to the Shutdown System web administration page,
press the RESET button on the front of the INTUITY AUDIX LX. You need
a small screwdriver or a ballpoint pen to press the button.
As the machine starts up, you see an Avaya splash screen and then
a screen that says Welcome to Avaya INTUITY AUDIX LX with a boot:
prompt.
- At the boot: prompt, type install and press Enter.
- Wait 10 to 15 minutes for installation to complete.
- If the system prompts for information about language, keyboard, or
installation media, press Enter.
- If the system prompts for other information, such as video cards or
disk type, there may be a problem. Contact Technical Support.
When installation is complete, the system displays a message "Congratulations,
installation is complete."
- Press Enter.
The system displays the message "Please remove the Install CD
from the CD drive and press <ENTER>."
- Remove the CD as soon as the drawer opens. Do not leave the CD in
the CD drive. Leaving the CD in the drive causes the system to boot
from it again and installation starts all over.
- Press Enter. The CD drawer closes and the system begins to reboot.
As the system boots up for the first time, a confirmation screen
displays: Welcome to Avaya INTUITY AUDIX LX R1.0.
- Press Enter.
Setting the System Time
The system displays the Time Settings screen.
- Press Tab to move the cursor to the Time Zone Selection.
- Use the up and down arrow keys to highlight the timezone where the
system is located.
- Press Tab to move the cursor to the New Time field.
- Enter the time in HH:MM format. Note that it is a 24-hour clock.
- Press Tab to move the cursor to the New Date field.
- Enter the date in MM/DD/YY format.
- Press Tab to move to the next field.
- Make sure that there is an asterisk (*) in the Set Hardware Clock
to GMT field.
- Press Tab to move the cursor to the OK box.
- Press Enter to save the page settings.
The system displays the message "Congratulations, configuration
is complete.
- Press Enter.
Running Autoinstall
The system displays the following prompt:
local host login
- Log in to the system as root.
- Press Enter at the password prompt.
- When the system prompts you for a new password, enter the password
and confirm it.
The system displays the # prompt.
- Put the System Software CD back in the CD drive.
- Type autoinstall and press Enter.
- Press Enter again to confirm that you want to do the autoinstall process.
- Follow the autoinstall prompts to assign the system passwords for
root, craft, tsc, and craftppp.
The system displays a message that the password changes were successful.
- Wait 5-10 minutes while the INTUITY AUDIX software is installed.
When autoinstall completes, the system displays the message "Please
remove the Installation CD from the CD drive and press <Enter>.
- Remove the CD from the CD drive and close the CD drive door.
- Press Enter to restart the system. If you accidentally allow the system
to restart with the CD still in the drive, wait until you get to the
install screen, then eject the CD. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart the
system.
As the system restarts, it displays a screen "Welcome to Kudsu"
that allows you to configure the CD drive.
- Press Enter on the keyboard to set up the CD drive.
- Select Configure and press Enter again.
The system continues the startup process.
- After the system restarts, the voice system (Messaging Software) should
start automatically.
The system displays the following prompt:
local host login
- Press Enter to login.
The installation is complete. Continue with Checking
the Voice System and Network Addressing.
