Removing the SCSI Interface Card
Damage from electrostatic discharge is possible. See Protecting Against ESD Damage for more information.After confirming that the data transferred successfully to the MAP/5P, MAP/5PV3, or MAP/5PV4 system, remove the SCSI interface card.
To remove the SCSI interface card:
- Start at the INTUITY Main Menu and select:
Customer/Services Administration
System Management
System Control
Shutdown SystemThe system displays the Wait Time Window.
- Enter a number between 0 and 60 to designate how long the system will wait for subscribers to log off.
- Press F3 (Save).
The system displays the following message:
Shutdown started.
When the system is completely shut down, the system will display the following message.
The system is down.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del to reboot your computer.
- Turn off the system power.
Observe proper electrostatic discharge precautions when you handle computer components. Wear an antistatic wrist strap that touches your bare skin and connect the strap cable to an earth ground. For detailed electrostatic discharge instructions, see Protecting Against ESD Damage.- Remove the tape drive cable.
- Do one of the following:
- If you are upgrading to a MAP/5P or MAP/5PV3:
- Remove the screw retaining the SCSI interface card in PCI slot 1.
- Remove the SCSI interface card by gently pulling on each corner.
- If you are upgrading to a MAP/5PV4:
- Remove the screw retaining the SCSI interface card in the shared PCI slot 2/ISA slot 1.
- Remove the SCSI interface card by gently pulling on each corner.
- Replace the SCSI interface card in the static-reducing bag.
- Replace the tape drive and the SCSI interface card in the reusable migration kit.
- Do one of the following:
- For MAP/5P and MAP/5PV3 systems, replace the slot cover and slot cover screw.
- For MAP/5PV4 systems, replace the card cage cover.
- Replace the dress cover. For more information, see Replacing the Dress Cover (MAP/5P or MAP/5PV3) or Replacing the Dress Cover (MAP/5PV4).
- Restore power to the system. For more information, see Restoring Power (MAP/5P and MAP/5PV3) or Restoring Power (MAP/5PV4).
- Click the BACK button until you return to the procedure checklist.
