Getting Inside the MAP/5PV4
Removing Power (MAP/5PV4)
The INTUITY AUDIX LX system requires a dedicated circuit with a dedicated circuit breaker. The power cord connects to the rear of the system to the AC power inlet receptacle. See Back View of Platform. Before you open the system, you must remove power to the system.
- Shut down the system.
- Turn off the monitor's power button.
Verify that the monitor's power is off.
- Turn off the power by pressing the power button on the front of the chassis. See Front View of Platform.
The green power lamp on the front of the unit should be off.
- Turn off the main power supply by pressing the switch located next to the power cord on the back of the chassis. See Back View of Platform.
- If necessary, unplug the monitor cord from the system.
Removing the Dress Cover (MAP/5PV4)
The system cover provides protection for the internal components. You must remove the cover to access the internal components.
Damage from electrostatic discharge is possible. See Protecting Against ESD Damage for more information.
- Shut power off to the system.
- Unplug any connections on the back of the system as necessary to correctly position the system.
- Unfasten the top cover retaining thumb screw located on the back of the system (see Back View of Platform).
- Slide the top cover off the back of the system.
- Unfasten the side panel retaining screws, which are located in the center of the top handles.
- To remove each side, lift the handle and slide the side panel off.
Note: If you need to remove or install the circuit card cage fan, tape drive, or the CD-ROM, the front bezel must be removed. See Step 7.
- For access to the front of the chassis, the bezel needs to be removed:
- Depress the bottom tabs (left and right) located on the backside of the bezel.
- Next depress the middle tabs (left and right) located on the backside of the bezel.
- Slide the bezel upward and pull it forward to remove.
- Carefully set the system on its right side, with the rear power switch toward the work surface.
Removing the Card Cage Cover (MAP/5PV4)
You must remove the card cage cover before you can remove or install a circuit card. See Internal Layout With Card Cage Cover (MAP/5PV4).
To remove the card cage cover:
- For each card that is currently installed, loosen the thumb screw that secures the card retaining arm and slide the retaining arm to the end of the card cage (toward the back of the chassis).
- Unfasten the card cage retaining screw, which is the single screw located on the right side of the card cover (toward the front of the chassis).
- Slide the card cage cover to the right (toward the front of the chassis) to release the back retaining tabs.
- Slide the card cage cover away from you (toward the top of the chassis) to release the front retaining tabs.
- Remove the card cage cover.
Replacing the Card Cage Cover (MAP/5PV4)
See Internal Layout With Card Cage Cover (MAP/5PV4).
To replace the card cage cover:
- Locate the card cage cover.
- Line up the two tabs on the card cage cover with the slots on the right (toward the front of the chassis) and then slide the cover to insert the tabs into the slots.
- Line up the three tabs on the card cage cover with the slots at the back of the chassis and then slide the cover to the left to insert the tabs into the slots.
- For each circuit card that is installed in the system, do the following:
- Loosen the thumb screw that secures the retaining arm.
- Slide the screw until the retaining arm reaches the card.
- Tighten the thumb screw.
- Replace and tighten the card cage retaining screw.
Replacing the Dress Cover (MAP/5PV4)
Complete the following procedure to replace the system cover.
- Carefully set the system upright if it is not already.
- If necessary, align and insert the tabs atop the bezel with the slots located on the top of the chassis.
- Apply pressure starting at the top of the bezel and continue to the bottom until the bezel snaps into place.
- Place the side cover on the chassis, aligning the cover with the guides, and then slide the cover into place. When the cover is properly seated, the handle lies flat.
- Replace the retaining screw that secures the side cover.
- Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the other side of the chassis.
- Set the top cover on the top of the chassis, align the cover with the guides, insert the cover lock through the slot in the top cover, and then slide the top cover into place.
- Replace the thumb retaining screw at the back of the front cover.
Restoring Power (MAP/5PV4)
- If necessary, attach the power cord and the monitor cord to the system.
- Turn on the main power by depressing the switch located next to the power cord on the back of the chassis (see Back View of Platform).
