Digital Networking Initial Administration Tasks

This topic provides information on the tasks that must be performed for Digital Networking initial administration.

The technician performs some of these tasks at the time of installation. Confirm that each of the tasks was performed. If not, you must complete the task. Ensure that you have the necessary information for TCP/IP, network channels, the local machine, and all remote machines.

The following list contains the tasks required for Digital Networking initial administration process, in sequential order:

  1. Complete the switch administration (normally done by the technician at the time of installation) to define the switch to work with INTUITY AUDIX digital networking ports.
  2. Verify or change the number of administered remote subscribers (normally done by the technician at the time of installation) to make sure that the number of administered remote subscribers is equal to or greater than the number of all mailboxes on all remote systems.
  3. Administer TCP/IP LAN connectivity.
  4. Change the local machine to define local machine information for digital networking.
  5. Add a remote machine or change a remote machine (normally done by the technician at the time of installation). On the local machine, define the information about each remote machine.
  6. Administer the INTUITY AUDIX LX system on the remote machines. On each remote machine, define the information about the local machine.
  7. Set up remote updates to define remote update capabilities for the local machine and remote machines.
  8. Perform a full remote update. Manually run a remote update for each remote machine to bring the network up to date immediately.
  9. Set automatic deletion of nonadministered remote subscribers.
  10. View remote extensions to verify that remote subscribers were added to the local database.
  11. Record the names of remote systems so that local subscribers hear voiced confirmations when they are addressing messages to subscribers on those remote systems.
  12. Administer remote subscribers. Add, delete, and change subscribers manually when you are not adding all remote subscribers or when nonadministered subscribers exist.
  13. Record remote subscriber names (for subscribers not added by a full remote update) so that local subscribers hear voiced confirmations when they are addressing messages to remote subscribers.
