Hard Disk Drive Administration

Adding a Hard Disk Drive to a MAP/40P Non-RAID System


 

Note: This procedure is used only for adding a disk to a single-disk, MAP/40P non-RAID system.

To add a hard disk drive:

  1. Verify that the new hard disk drive is on site and appears to be in usable condition, with no obvious shipping damage.
  2. Set the jumpers on the new hard disk drive.
  3. Install the hard disk drive.
  4. Reboot the Avaya Intuity system.
  5. Press CONTROL+A when prompted.
  6. The system displays the Host Adapter Configuration Screen.

  7. Place the cursor on SCSI Disk Utilities. Use the UP ARROW and the DOWN ARROW to move the cursor.
  8. Press ENTER.
  9. The system displays the SCSI Disk Utilities Screen.

  10. Place the cursor on the SCSI Disk to be formatted. Use the UP ARROW and the DOWN ARROW to move the cursor.
  11. Press ENTER.
  12. The system displays the Configure/Format Disk Screen.

  13. Place the cursor on the Format Disk. Use the UP ARROW and the DOWN ARROW to move the cursor.
  14. Press ENTER.
  15. The system will ask you to confirm that the disk is to be formatted.

  16. Enter y
  17. The system displays the Host Adapter Configuration Screen.
  18. Start at the Avaya Intuity Main Menu and select:
  19. Customer/Services Administration
    System Management
    Disk Management
    Install Disk

    The system displays the Install Disk Window.

  20. Enter 1
  21. Press F3 (Save).
  22. The system displays the following message:

    clean
    Install Disk Operation In Progress.

    This operation will require approximately 10 minutes per gig to complete.

    The disk install was successful
    Press Enter to continue.

  23. Press ENTER.
  24. The system displays the Disk Management Menu.

  25. Reboot the Avaya Intuity system.

Adding a Hard Disk Drive to a MAP/100P System


 

Note: This procedure is used only for adding a disk to a MAP/100P system.

If the customer has available slots and wants to expand the number of available hours of speech on a MAP/100P Release 5 system you can add more hard disk drives. The maximum number of hard disk drives is five and the minimum is three.

This change required changes to the system configuration. Incorrect settings in this configuration can render the customer's system inoperable. For assistance with this procedure, contact the Remote Service Center.
