Installing the UnixWare Software Package


 


If you use the DELETE key to stop the UnixWare installation at any time during this process, you will have to restart the software installation process at Step 1.

Preparing the System

To prepare the system:

  1. Verify the CMOS settings.
  2. Verify the HOST adapter settings.
  3. If you have a MAP/100P or a MAP/40P, verify the MDAC settings.
Starting the Unixware Installation

To start the Unixware installation:

  1. Insert the diskette labeled "Avaya Intuity UNIX Boot Floppy 1 of 2" into the diskette drive.
  2. If the system is off, turn it on using the power switch.
  3. If the system is on, reboot the system.

    The system displays the SCO UnixWare introduction screen as it begins to load the base system software. When the system is done with the first boot diskette, it displays the following message:

    Insert second floppy and press ENTER.

  4. Remove the diskette labeled "Avaya Intuity UNIX Boot Floppy 1 of 2" from the diskette drive.
  5. Insert the diskette labeled "Avaya Intuity UNIX Boot Floppy 2 of 2" into the diskette drive.
  6. Press ENTER.
  7. The system displays the following message:

    Please wait while the system software drivers are loaded.

    The system then displays the SCO UnixWare 2.1 Screen.

  8. Select:
  9. Install/Upgrade UnixWare 2.1

    The system displays the Remove Floppy Screen.

  10. Remove the diskette labeled "Unixware for Intuity Boot Floppy 2 of 2" from the diskette drive.
  11. Press ENTER.
  12. The system displays the Introduction Screen.
     

    Note: If the system displays a message that the system must have at least 60 MB of space in the hard disk drive to install UNIX, there is a problem with the hard disk drive. The cable may not be connected, or the hard disk drive may be damaged. Power down the system and check the hard disk drive cables.

Setting Up the Keyboard

To setup the keyboard:

  1. Starting at the Introduction Screen, press ENTER.
  2. The system displays the Keyboard Setup Screen.

  3. Press the LEFT ARROW key and RIGHT ARROW key to move through the field selections.
  4. Select U.S. ASCII.
  5. Press the DOWN ARROW key to move to the Apply field and press ENTER.
  6. The system displays the Configure Date and Time Screen.

Configuring the System Date and Time

To configure the system date and time:

  1. Starting at the Configure Date and Time Screen, press the LEFT ARROW key and RIGHT ARROW key to move through the field selections. Press the DOWN ARROW key to move to the next field.
  2. Select the appropriate data for each field.
  3. Press the DOWN ARROW to move to the Apply field and press ENTER.
  4. The system displays the Continent Location Choice Screen.

Choosing the Continent Location

To choose the continent location:

  1. Starting at the Continent Location Choice Screen, press the LEFT ARROW key and RIGHT ARROW key to move through the field selections.
     

    Note: If you are outside the United States, choose US/Eastern for this field.

  2. Select the appropriate data for each field.
  3. Press the DOWN ARROW key to move to the Apply field and press ENTER.
  4. The system displays the Installation Type Selection Screen.

Choosing the Installation Type

To choose the installation type:

  1. Starting at the Installation Type Selection Screen, press the LEFT ARROW key and RIGHT ARROW key to move through the field selections. Press the down arrow to move to the next field.
  2. Select MAP/5P, MAP/40P or MAP/100P for the Platform Type: field.
  3. Select RAID, SCSI, or IDE for the CPU Configuration: field.
  4. Select INTUITY AUDIX for the Offer Type: field.
  5. Press the DOWN ARROW key to move to the Apply: field.
  6. Press ENTER.
Setting the Hard Disk Drive Partitions and Slice Sizes

To set the hard disk drive partitions:

  1. Starting at the Set the Hard Disk Partitions Screen, type 1 and press ENTER.
  2. The system displays the Set Slice Sizes Screen.

  3. Enter 1
  4. The system displays the Insert CD-ROM Screen.

  5. Insert the Intuity AUDIX CD into the CD drive.
  6. Press ENTER.
  7. The system then displays the Continue Installation Screen.

  8. Press ENTER.
  9. The system then displays the Verifying Installation Screen.

    After approximately 30 minutes the system displays the Copying Files Screen.

    The system then automatically reboots and displays the console login prompt.

  10. Continue with the next procedure, Installing the Platform Software.
