Fax functionality

When configured as a circuit-based system, the Avaya IR system supports sending and receiving faxes. On a packet-based Avaya IR system, fax services are not supported, and the switch must be used to send and receive faxes.

Fax capabilities on the Avaya IR system are supported by NMS NaturalFax software and make use of the NMS digital telephony cards.

The Fax feature can be invoked:

• From applications written with fax external functions and assigned to Avaya IR channels
• Using command line user tools

The Fax Actions package includes the fax external functions and tools.

The NGFAX software from NMS includes external functions that can be called from applications on the Avaya IR system to:

• Create cover pages
• Queue and send faxes
• Receive faxes
