Adjunct/Switch Application Interface (ASAI) is an optional feature.

About the ASAI feature

The ASAI feature is a digital signaling interface that provides a LAN or VoIP interface between a MultiVantage switch and adjuncts. The ASAI feature:

Routes calls to agents based on information from a database.
Delivers account information or caller profiles to the agent terminal at the same time as the call.
Provides the ability to adjust application parameters.

With ASAI, the voice system can monitor and route calls on the switch. This interface operates over an Ethernet TCP/IP link connected to MAPD in CVLAN mode. When the ASAI interface is used in conjunction with digital line side T1 or E1 loop start interfaces or VoIP, the voice system can monitor and control incoming calls. It also supports access to ANI and DNIS and supports ASAI transfer, which is faster and more reliable than a flash transfer.

The ASAI feature includes the following capabilities:

Capability	Description
Universal Call ID (UCID)	UCID provides a unique identifier (8-byte binary or 20-character ASCII) for every call in a MultiVantage call center customer environment for uniform data-tracking for all call-related data in a call center, regardless of the system. MultiVantage uses the ASAI interface to pass the UCID to adjuncts.
ANI Information Indicator (ANI-II)	ANI-II provides a number that indicates the class of service of the customer who is calling, such as residential, coin, or wireless.
User-to-User Information element (UUI)	With UUI, the customer can specify additional information to be passed in external function arguments, which can contain up to 96 bytes of information.
CallVisor	CallVisor libraries are supported over a TCP/IP stack on an Ethernet LAN.

The full CallVisor CVLAN client of ASAI interface software is also provided with the ASAI feature package to facilitate building ASAI applications in C code. Avaya Professional Services provides development expertise in ASAI and the system, and other independent software vendors (ISVs) can develop custom applications using the ASAI API, thereby providing the optimum solution when you require full ASAI integration with the application.

The ASAI feature requires a MultiVantage switch.

Setup considerations

An ASAI link between the MultiVantage switch and the Avaya IR system delivers control and supervisory messages about each loop start T1 channel. The link must be implemented as an Ethernet connection. One ASAI link is supported per Avaya IR system.

In a typical Avaya IR system and MultiVantage configuration, the public network provides a PRI connection to the MultiVantage switch for an application to receive calling number information. To establish an ASAI link between a MultiVantage switch and an Avaya IR system, connect one of the integrated LAN connections on the Avaya IR system to a MAPD circuit card in the MultiVantage switch.
To make connections from the Avaya IR system to the switch, provision ASAI with loop start T1, loop start E1, or VoIP to support digital connections between the Avaya IR system and the line side of the switch. With this type of connection, various switch features that are not compatible with an ordinary T1 trunk connected between the Avaya IR system and switch can be used. These features include call transfer and call progress tone (CPT) detection, either in conjunction with CCA or where an E1/T1 interface circuit card is used for communications.
