Description

This package includes additional software that is required to interface with ScanSoft's SpeechWorks Speechify Text-to-Speech (TTS) engine for VoiceXML and TAS applications. The package includes the Speechify 2.1.5 and 3.0.1 client software. This client software supports both Speechify 2.1.5 and 3.0 server software. This package is dependent on the Speech Proxy Base Software package (AVsproxy) and the Proxy Text-To-Speech package (AVttsprxy). For information about installing and configuring Speechify 2.1.5 and 3.0 server software, see Third-party product documentation.

If the TTS server is Speechify 3.0.1, make the following additional changes on the speech server:

1. Locate the directory where Speechify is installed.
2. Locate the file config\SWIttsConfig.xml and open it for editing.
3. Change the value of tts.ssml.doStrictValidation to false
4. Change the value of tts.server.licensingMode to default

Language support

TAS applications work with all the languages available for Speechify.

For TAS, Japanese supports the character sets of Shift-JIS or EUC with the following considerations:

• The Proxylang or Proxyvoice external functions specify the language. For more information, see the Release 5.3 for TAS Online Help system.
• For either function, the language field should specify 1041 (Japanese language id), and the charset argument will default to Shift-JIS. You can specify the charset argument as Shift-JIS or EUC.
• For the Proxyvoice function, if the Voice Tag field is set as Japanese voice and the language field is set as NULL, the charset argument will default to Shift-JIS.

VoiceXML applications for Avaya IR have been tested with the following Speechify languages:

• English (Australian)
• English (UK)
• English (US)
• French (Canadian)
• French (Continental)
• German
• Japanese
• Portuguese (Brazilian)
• Spanish (Mexican)
