Preparing for software installation

To install the Avaya IR system base software, you need the following CD-ROMs:

• Avaya IR R2.0 Solaris Patches

  Note:
  This CD-ROM Solaris Patches allows you to install the same Solaris patch set that is installed on complete systems before they are shipped. These patches are strongly recommended for software-only customers. They should be installed before installing the Avaya IR software. For the procedure to install these patches, see Installing the Solaris patches.

• Avaya IR R2.0 Installation and Upgrade CD 1
• Avaya IR R2.0 Installation and Upgrade CD 2

You must be able to log in as root on the platform on which you are installing the software. Each platform has the following minimum console requirements:

• Sun Blade 150 must have one of the following:
  • An ASCII terminal connected to the serial port
  • A keyboard and mouse connected to the USB ports and a monitor connected to the VGA video connector
  • Sun console
• Sun Fire 280R / Sun Fire V240 must have an ASCII terminal connected to a general serial port

If you have a Sun Fire V240 or Sun Fire 280R system, you are planning to use the Disk Mirroring feature, and you want to install it using the Avaya Disk Mirroring utility, you must verify that your disk partitioning is correctly configured. For more information, see Disk Mirroring feature.
