Installing the Solaris patches

Customers who purchased the software-only solution for Avaya Interactive Response are strongly advised to install the Sun Solaris patches on the CD-ROM labeled Avaya IR R2.0 Solaris Patches before installing the Avaya IR software.

Notes:
Customers who purchase the complete Avaya IR solution (that is, both hardware and software) do not need to do this, because their systems come with the patch set already installed.

For additional information and a simplified installation procedure to install these patches, see the README file on the CD-ROM, Avaya IR R2.0 Solaris Patches.

To install the Sun Solaris patch set:

  1. Log in to the system as root, if you are not already logged in.
  2. To stop the Volume Manager, at the system prompt, enter
    /etc/init.d/volmgt stop
  3. To go to single user mode, at the system prompt, enter
    Shutdown –is –g0 –y
  4. To restart the Volume Manager, at the system prompt, enter
    /etc/init.d/volmgt start
  5. To navigate to the CD-ROM drive, at the system prompt, enter
    cd /cdrom/cdrom#
    where the # in cdrom# represents the drive number for the CD-ROM drive (normally 0).
  6. To install the patches, at the system prompt, enter
    ./install_cluster
  7. (Optional) If you want view the log of the patch installation to see what was installed, at the system prompt, enter
    /var/sadm/install_data/Solaris_8_Recommended_log
  8. To reboot the system, at the system prompt, enter
    shutdown –i6 –g0 -y
