To install the system software from the Avaya IR CD-ROM, which includes all of the Avaya IR software, follow the steps in the table in this section.
Note:
Beginning with Release 1.2.1, the Sun operating system (OS) is no longer installed as part of the IR software installation process. Before installing this software, make sure that you have first installed the correct version of the Sun Solaris OS (version 10 or version 8, update 8 for IR R2.0).
This installation process adds the IR base packages, but not necessarily all of the packages required to make the system operational. When you complete this procedure, see Installing individual packages for information on how to install additional packages required by your system.

Partition sizes for Disk Mirroring:
The following table shows the mirrors, submirrors, directories, and partition sizes that are set up by default on complete (hardware and software) systems purchased from Avaya:
Note:
For software-only solutions, these partitions are not set up by default. If you want to use Disk Mirroring on a system in which you have acquired the hardware on your own, you must first verify that your system is partitioned as shown in the following table (so you can use the AVdm functionality), or you must use the Sun DiskSuite 4.2.1 tools to enable Disk Mirroring. For more information about the DiskSuite tools, see the Sun Product Documentation website for DiskSuite.

Installation procedure:
Step |
System response/prompt |
Action |
1 |
None |
Verify that the system meets the minimum hardware and OS requirements for software installation (see Platform requirements). If you are not sure whether you have the correct version of the OS installed, you can run the command: |
2 |
None |
Insert the CD-ROM labeled Avaya IR R2.0 Installation and Upgrade CD 1 into the CD-ROM drive. |
3 |
None |
To start the installation, enter: |
4 |
The system installs the validation package (AVval) and runs it. This validation package checks to verify that the system has all the operating system software, patches, and hardware required to install the Avaya IR software. If the system does not have all the requisite hardware and software installed, then the validation package records the errors to an error log, lists all errors on the screen, and aborts the installation process. If the validation package does not find any deficiencies, then it proceeds to the next phase of the installation. |
If the validation package aborts the process because you are missing one or more required elements, then you must address the deficiencies and restart the installation. You can find a list of the errors in the installation log at /var/sadm/install/logs/ivr_install.log. If the validation script does not find any errors, no action is required at this point. |
5 |
The system copies all optional package files to the /export/optional_features directory. When finished, the installation script prompts you to insert the second CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive and then press Enter when ready to proceed. |
Insert the CD-ROM labeled Avaya IR R2.0 Installation and Upgrade CD 2 into the CD-ROM drive. Press Enter. |
6 |
The system installs the Avaya IR base packages and a number of Sun OS required companion packages. It also copies all base software package files to the /export/optional_features directory. Note: At the end of the installation and copying process, the installation script displays a prompt saying that the software installation is complete and prompting you to press Enter to reboot the system. |
Press Enter. |
7 |
The system reboots. |
None |
The steps in the table above describe the installation of only the base system software. If you want to use additional software, such as speech recognition software, Text-to-Speech, and other optional packages, you must install them separately, using the pkgadd
command.
The use of some features is also controlled by the WebLM licensing mechanism. For more information, see WebLM licensing.
