Connecting the platform to the telephone network

For voice communications, the Avaya IR must be connected directly to one of the following:

• The Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN)
• An Avaya MultiVantage system
• A non-Avaya switch that supports the required digital protocols

You can connect up to two T1 or E1 facilities to each NMS dual card or up to four T1 or E1 facilities to each NMS quad card installed on the Avaya IR system. These facilities may receive calls directly from the PSTN or they may connect to an Avaya MultiVantage system or to a non-Avaya switch

Trunks connect to the back of the:

• Sun Fire V240 platform (just above the USB ports and the SCSI port as shown in the figure Connecting a Sun Fire V240 platform to the LAN)
• Sun Fire 280R platform (Item 1 in the figure shown in Connecting a Sun Fire 280R platform to the LAN)
• Sun Blade 150 platform (Item 2 in the figure shown in Connecting a Sun Blade 150 platform to the LAN)
