The following features and capabilities have been newly introduced in Avaya IR Release 2.0.
Solaris 10 Operating System |
Solaris 10 has been introduced as an Operating System (OS), to supplement Solaris 8 OS already present. Solaris 10 OS provides additional security enhancements such as password encryption, cryptographic framework for data security, and improved user rights management. The use of Secure Shell (SSH) on Solaris 10 provides you with the ability to run Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) service. For more information, see Operating System Description. |
Support for tape backup |
A tape backup mechanism has been introduced, to supplement Network File System (NFS) backup. This enhancement provides you with additional backup options and increased data security. For more information, see Backup and restore feature and Backup and Restore screen. |
Licensing using WebLM |
WebLM licensing has replaced the Right-to-Use (RTU) licensing mechanism. Only licensed features require WebLM licensing. Avaya IR systems earlier than Release 2.0 still use the RTU licensing mechanism. For more information, see WebLM licensing feature and Web LM licensing. |
Generalized MRCP speech interface support for supported speech vendors |
The speech vendors supported now include Scansoft and Nuance, in addition to IBM already supported from Release 1.3. Media Resource Control Protocol (MRCP) is an emerging, open standard for speech interfaces that supports the interoperability of vendor systems. MRCP addresses communication between interactive voice response systems such as IR and specialized media resource engines (including but not limited to those that support Advanced Speech Recognition (ASR) and Text - to - Speech (TTS) functionality). For more information, see MRCP feature. |
Enhanced VoIP features and capacities
|
Support for the following features has been introduced:
For more information, see VoIP feature and Assign a VoIP card screen. |
VXML enhancements |
All VoiceXML (VXML) applications are now VoiceXML 2.0 compliant. Support for select VoiceXML 2.1 tags has also been introduced. For more information, see VoiceXML feature. |
Password encryption during storage |
Your database password is now stored in an encrypted format. For more information, see Security enhancements in Release 2.0. |
SFTP replacing File Transfer Protocol (FTP) |
The SFTP service is similar to File Transfer Protocol (FTP) but performs all operations over an encrypted SSH transport link, thus gaining the features of public key encryption and compression. SSH which provides secured Transfer Control Protocol (TCP) tunnels, is a secure replacement for Telnet, rlogin, rcp, and rsh. For more information, see Security enhancements in Release 2.0.. |
Migration/upgrade strategy |
IR R2.0 supports migration from the previous IR platforms. Customers on CONVERSANT V 6.1 or later platforms can migrate data from previous platforms and upgrade to our newer platforms. Upgrades from previous Avaya IR platforms are also supported. For more information, see Migration. |
Multiple Trunk Protocol support for each NMS Communication board |
IR R2.0 supports multiple trunk protocols on an NMS board and bridging of multiple trunk protocols on an NMS board. For more information, see Assign Card screen. |
Support for CINFO |
IR R2.0 supports extracting CINFO (Customer Information Forwarding ) data. This is achieved by using the ISDN_CINFO PRI external function in Avaya IVR Designer R5.3 for TAS applications. If you want to extract CINFO data while using Avaya IVR Designer R5.3 for VoiceXML applications, then you will have to run your TAS application from VoiceXML. For more information, see Avaya IVR Designer R5.3 for TAS applications and Avaya IVR Designer R5.3 for VoiceXML applications. |
