Use the General Parameters page to administer
the system's general parameters. Before completing this page,
make sure that you have configured network
addressing.
This page contains the following fields.
Local Machine Name: Specifies
the name of the Message Networking system. This field is display-only
and can only be modified on the Network Addressing page.
Connection Type: Specifies the type
of connection the system attempts to set up for a test call. This
field is always set to TCP/IP.
Local Machine IP Address: Specifies
the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the local machine. This field
is display-only and can only be modified on the Network Addressing
page.
Channel: Select the network channel
to be used. Select 0 to configure
the system to select
the first idle channel.
Password: Specify the password that
AUDIX Digital remote machines must use to establish networking connections
to Message Networking. The password can be from 5 to 10 alphanumeric
characters.
Note: There is also an LDAP password that must
be administered on the Message Networking system to allow LDAP remote
machines to execute LDAP updates with the Message Networking system.
See LDAP Password for information.
Network Address Length: Select
the number of digits in the network address for this system, from
3 to 10. The default for this field is 10. If you want to change
the network address length on a Message Networking system that is
already provisioned in the network, it is recommended that you delete
all remote end points and the existing address information and then
add the new address information.
Automatic Full Update: Specify whether
the system can automatically request full updates from remote machines.
Select yes if you want the
system to automatically request full updates. Select no
if you do not want the system to automatically request full updates
The default for this field is yes.
UPDATES In: Specify whether the system
accepts updated user database information from any remote machine.
Select yes if you want the system to accept updated user
information from remote machines Select no if you do not
want the system to accept updated user information from any remote
machine. The default for this field is no.
UPDATES Out: Specify whether the system
sends user information updates to remote machines. Select yes
if you want the system to send user information updates to remote
machines. Select no if you do not want the system to send
user information updates to remote machines. The default for this
field is no.
Network Turnaround: Specify
whether the Message Networking network connection can turn around
after it has sent all network data to INTUITY AUDIX and default
systems only and allow the remote machine to return updated information
on the same connection. Select yes to enable this parameter,
or select no to disable this parameter. The default for this
field is yes.
CDR Retention Days: Select
the number of days, from 1 to 10, that the system will retain records
from Call Detail Recording (CDR). The default for this field is
7.
Self Registration Agent ID:
Type the network address to which a subscriber can send a message
containing a voiced name and automatically register as a subscriber
on the Message Networking system. The address can be up to 10 digits.
You can use a fictitious area code and prefix to ensure that the
messages do not go to a real telephone number or mailbox within
your Message Networking network or in the public network. For example,
you can use a code that is easy for subscribers to remember, such
as 7344783763, which spells out register me on the
telephone keypad. Self-registration of subscribers is not supported
for Avaya MM remote machines.
Octel Analog Serial
Number: Type the serial number, from 80000 to 81000, to be used
by the Octel Analog Networking protocol for this Message Networking
system. The serial number can be up to 10 digits. The default for
this field is 80000.
FTP Service?: Specify whether
FTP is active on the Message Networking system. Select Yes
to activate FTP or No to deactivate FTP. The default for
this field is No. See Prerequisites for
using FTP for information on activating FTP on the Message Networking
system.
LDAP Password: Specify an LDAP
password for the local Message Networking system. An LDAP Password
is required for the local Message Networking system and LDAP remote
machines (Modular Messaging and Message Networking systems) to secure
the connection when performing LDAP queries. The password can be
from 5 to 10 alphanumeric characters. If you change this password,
you must provide the password to administrators of LDAP remote machines
with which you communicate.
Note: When you administer a new Modular
Messaging or Message Networking
remote machine on the Message Networking system, you must enter
the LDAP password of the remote machine in the LDAP Password field
on the Remote Machine Parameters page.
Port: Type the number of the TCP/IP port
on which Message Networking will listen for SMTP messages. The port
number can be up to 5 digits and must fall within the 1000 to 65000
range, although some of the numbers within this range might not
be usable. The default for this field is 25.
Domain Name: Specifies the domain
name of the local machine. This field is display-only and cannot
be modified.
Primary Name + Domain Name:
Specifies the primary name and domain name of the local machine.
This field is display-only and cannot be modified.
DNS IP address 1: Specifies the
IP address of the primary Domain Name Server (DNS). This field is
used to resolve the IP address of any machine for which the Use
DNS field is enabled, but no IP address is specified. This field
is display-only and cannot be modified.
DNS IP address 2: Specifies the
IP address of the secondary DNS. This field is used to resolve addresses
if the primary DNS is not accessible. This field is display-only
and cannot be modified.
DNS IP address 3: Specifies the
IP address of the third Domain Name Server. This field is used to
resolve addresses if the primary and secondary DNSs are not available.
This field is display-only and cannot be modified.
Send Email Headers: Specify
whether you want email headers to be included in messages. Select
yes or no. The default for this field is no.
SMTP/MIME Auto-Assign Mailbox ID: If
your Message Networking system has a default SMTP/MIME remote machine
to handle SMTP messages from remote machines not administered on
the Message Networking system, use this field to determine the starting
number to generate network addresses for unknown message senders.
The number you enter must be within the specified dial plan for
the default SMTP/MIME remote machine. Zeros are added to the number
you specify in this field to create a network address with the number
of digits specified in the Mailbox ID field for the default SMTP
remote machine. For example, if you enter 50 in this field
and the mailbox ID for the remote machine is set to 10, eight zeros
are added to the entry in this field to create a network address
of 0000000050 for the mailbox. Each time a network address is automatically
assigned, this field is incremented.
Note: If this field reaches the highest network address
allowed in the default SMTP remote machine's dial plan, an alarm
is recorded in the Administrator's Log and the Maintenance Log,
and this field becomes unavailable. If this problem occurs, you
must modify the dial plan
for the default SMTP remote machine and then enter a new value for
this field that is within the modified dial plan range.
Alias: Type the alias for the local
domain name, up to 64 characters (for example, company.com).
This field is optional.
SMTP Silent Strip: If a remote
machine is unable to receive a message component from an SMTP sender,
a notification of this failure is included with the message by default.
You can use the SMTP Silent Strip fields to specify whether a notification
is included with the message if the component is removed.
Note: If the component that cannot be received is the only
component of the SMTP message, the failure notification is provided
to the recipient regardless of the SMTP Silent Strip field settings.
Annotation?: Use this field
to specify whether the notification that the annotation (also referred
to as the subject) component of an SMTP message could not be received
is included with the message or if it is silenced.
Binary?: Use this field to specify
whether the notification that a binary component of an SMTP message
could not be received is included with the message or if it is silenced.
Text?: Use this field to specify
whether the notification that a text component of an SMTP message
could not be received is included with the message or if it is silenced.
Maximum Delivery Times/Priority:
Specify how long Message Networking keeps a priority message before
it is returned to the remote machine as a failed message. Enter
the time in Days, Hrs (hours), and Mins (minutes). The minimum setting
for this field is 1 hour. The default for this field is 4 hours.
Maximum Delivery Times/Non_priority:
Specify how long Message Networking keeps a non-priority message
before it is returned to the remote machine as a failed message.
Enter the time in Days, Hrs (hours), and Mins (minutes). The minimum
setting for this field is 1 hour. The default for this field is
12 hours.
Status Messages Times/Expiration:
Specify how long Message Networking holds any status message destined
for a remote machine before deleting the status message. Enter the
time in Days, Hrs (hours), and Mins (minutes). The minimum setting
for this field is 1 day. The default for this field is 7 days.
Status Messages Times/Poll Interval:
Specifies the interval for which Message Networking monitors the
message queue for failed or status messages. Enter the time in Days,
Hrs (hours), and Mins (minutes). The minimum setting for this field
is 15 minutes. The default for this field is 1 hour.
Organization: Use this field to provide a description
of the organization using Message Networking, up to 64 characters. This field
is optional and for informational purposes only.
Organization Unit: Use this field to provide a description
of the organization unit using Message Networking, up to 64 characters. This field
is optional and for informational purposes only.
Country: Type the country in which Message Networking
is installed, up to 64 characters. This field is optional and for informational
purposes only.
