Generating a Network Status Report

This topic provides information on the Network Status Report. The Network Status Report provides the communication status of each machine connected to the Message Networking system. This information includes data about outgoing and incoming connections.

To generate the Network Status Report:

  1. Start at the Administration menu, and select Message Networking Administration > Network Traffic Reports > Network Status Report.
The system displays the Network Status report. The following table lists the fields that are included in this report.
  2. Field Description
DATE The date (mm/dd) specified in the selection criteria screen.
END TIME The time (hh:hh) at which data collection for this report ended, using the 24-hour clock.
Busy Hour The hour (hh), using the 24-hour clock, at which the digital networking ports were the busiest. The Daily Network Port Utilization Traffic report shows the Busy Hour is based on the maximum simultaneous ports used for the given protocol. The Busy Hour is based on the simultaneous number of seconds of usage in an hour among all ports. This field only displays under the following circumstances:
    • If you selected Daily as the Report Type.
    • If at least one port experienced traffic during the day (if the ports are idle for the day, this field does not display).
Maximum Simultaneous Ports The number of networking ports that were active simultaneously during the period displayed on the report.
NETWORK Port The port number of the remote machine. Port numbers for specific types of networking are grouped. For example, numbers 1 through 12 might indicate AUDIX Digital networking ports. Numbers 13 through 58 might indicate AMIS Analog.
Connection Type The type of networking administered for this port.
    Usage (Seconds)
    • Incoming
The number of seconds this port was active for incoming calls.
    • Outgoing
The number of seconds this port was active for outgoing calls.
    • Total
The total number of seconds this port was active for incoming and outgoing calls.
    Number of Sessions
    • Incoming
The number of sessions this port handled for incoming calls.
    • Outgoing
The number of sessions this port handled for outgoing calls.
    • Total
The total number of sessions this port handled for incoming and outgoing calls.
TOTAL The total for incoming, outgoing, and total fields under the Usage (Seconds) and Number of Sessions headings.

  3. Click Export to File if you want to export the contents of the Network Status Report to a file (/iclog/icftp/reports/pr_intestat). When a message asks if you want to overwrite any previous version of the report, click OK.
  4. Click Return to Main to return to the Administration menu.
