This topic provides information on administering SMTP/MIME security
on the Message Networking system by blocking or accepting incoming
and outgoing SMTP/MIME messages, either by domain name or by network
address. Administering SMTP/MIME security involves the following
tasks:
The blocking of SMTP/MIME messages takes place at the SMTP/MIME
gateway:
- Outbound messages are accepted by Message Networking for delivery and are
passed to the SMTP/MIME gateway, which then return messages to
blocked destinations as undeliverable with a sending restrictions
error condition.
- Incoming messages from blocked domains are rejected by the receiving
ESMTP daemon, which minimizes impact to the system. Rejection
is based on the Mail From identification provided by the remote
system during mail exchange.
