What's new in Message Networking Release 2

Message Networking Release 2 contains all of the functionality that was provided for the Release 1.1, as well as the following new or enhanced capabilities:

  • Message Networking is now available on the high-availability, high-reliability Avaya S3400 Message Server server. See S3400-H server for a server overview.
  • Support for an enhanced Enterprise List feature, previously only available on Avaya Interchange (available only on the Avaya S3400-H server, not the S3210 server). See Enterprise List overview for detailed information about this feature.
  • Support for versions 2 and 3 of Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). SNMP can be used with Message Networking to perform the following tasks:
    • A network management station (NMS) can perform queries of system status information from Message Networking.
    • Message Networking can send alarm and resolution event notifications to specified NMSs.

See Simple Network Management Protocol overview for more information about SNMP in Message Networking.

  • Increases in subscriber capacities: 500,000 subscribers, with 250,000 voice name. See System capacities for more information.
  • Compliant with the LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) standard. Message Networking now supports an LDAP interface that customers can access via an LDAP client to perform queries of system data and to perform system administration. See LDAP overview for more information.
  • Allows for migrations and upgrades from Interchange R5.4 and Message Networking R1.1. See Upgrading to Message Networking Release 2.0 for more information.
