For both INADS and SNMP setups, test alarm origination to verify
that alarms are logged correctly and are sent to the correct destination.
Note: This test requires the receiving machine
(either INADS or SNMP) to be set up properly by the appropriate
party and ready to receive alarms. For complete steps on setting
up SNMP, see Administering SNMP.
To test alarm origination:
- From the Administration menu, select Diagnostics >
Alarm Origination Test > Execute Alarm Origination Test.
The system displays the Execute Alarm Origination Test page.
- Click Run Test to execute the Alarm Origination Test.
A message displays that the tests will run in the background and
can take up to five minutes to complete.
- If the alarm origination test must use the modem, log off as
quickly as possible.
- Wait approximately five minutes for the test alarm to be acknowledged
and resolved.
- And then, from the Administration menu, select Diagnostics
> Alarm Origination Test > View Latest Test
Results to view the test results.
-
Click Return to Main to return to the Administration menu.
