Network Port Utilization Traffic Report

Use the Network Port Utilization Traffic report to view information on port usage on the Message Networking system.

This page contains the following fields.

Report Type: Select the type of report you want to generate. Select Daily (the default) or Hourly. If you select Hourly, the Hour field displays on the page.

Date: Type the date for which you want to generate the report in mm/dd/yy format (for example, 10/30/02) The default is the current date.

Hour: Select the hour for which you want to generate the report. This field is only displayed if you select Hourly in the Report Type field.

Connection Type: Select the connection (port) type for which you want to generate the report:

  • ALL (all types listed)
  • TCP/IP — I (INTUITY)
  • TCP/IP — A (Aria)
  • TCP/IP — S (Serenade)
  • SMTP
  • ANALOG

Click Display to generate the report. The following table lists the fields that are included in the report.

Field Description
DATE The date (mm/dd) specified in the selection criteria screen.
END TIME The time (hh:hh) at which data collection for this report ended, using a 24-hour clock.
Busy Hour

The hour (hh), using a 24-hour clock, at which the digital networking ports were the busiest. The Busy Hour is based on:

  • The Busy Hour lines display the hour in which each protocol was busiest, based on the seconds of usage across all ports for all protocols. The Busy Hour (Seconds) line displays the seconds of usage across all ports for that hour.
  • The Maximum Simultaneous Ports lines display the hour for each protocol that contained the max simultaneous connections. The Total Seconds of Usage line displays the number of connections for that hour. This field is displayed only if Daily is selected as the Report Type and at least one port experienced traffic during the day.

This field is not displayed if "Hourly" is selected as the Report Type. If an individual protocol is selected, the Busy Hour (Seconds) field is not included.

Maximum Simultaneous Ports The number of networking ports that were active simultaneously during the period displayed on the report.
NETWORK Port The port number of the remote machine.
Connection Type The type of networking administered for this port.
Usage (Seconds)
  • Incoming
The number of seconds this port was active for incoming calls.
  • Outgoing
The number of seconds this port was active for outgoing calls.
  • Total
The total number of seconds this port was active for incoming and outgoing calls.
Number of Sessions
  • Incoming
The number of sessions this port handled for incoming calls.
  • Outgoing
The number of sessions this port handled for outgoing calls.
  • Total
The total number of sessions this port handled for incoming and outgoing calls.
TOTAL The total for incoming, outgoing, and total fields under the Usage (Seconds) and Number of Sessions headings.

Note: If a message that is transmitted spans two hours (that is, it begins transmission at the end of one hour and finishes at the start of the next), that time is not reflected in the Hourly report. For example, if a message is sent at 1:59:50 and finishes at 2:00:10, that time is not included in the hourly report for 1 a.m. or 2 p.m. because there is not a start and end transmit recorded in any one hour. However, that time is reflected if you run a Daily report.

The following buttons appear at the bottom of this page:
