The following task contains instructions for
defining a class of service (COS) for ELA. If you previously created
a COS for ELA when you created other system Classes of Service,
skip this step.
Before you perform the following tasks, ensure
that you have an unused COS that you can define for ELA.
Note: The ELA COS should be used only for ELA mailboxes.

To administer a COS for ELA:
- Start at the Messaging Administration main
menu and select:
Global Administration
Subscriber Management
Manage
Classes of Service
The system displays the Manage Classes of
Service page.
- Select a class of service to use for ELA and click
Edit the Selected COS.
The system displays the Edit Class of Service
page.
- Although not required, it is
recommended that you change the name of the COS to be more descriptive;
for example, enter ELA in the Name field.
- Write down the COS number. You will need
it later when you administer the ELA server.
- Enter the following information:
- 14 in the Incoming New Messages
(days) field. (This setting acts as a safety measure, should
ELA encounter an operational problem and cannot send messages
for a couple of days.)
- 14 in the Incoming Old Messages
(days) field. (Ordinarily, there are no old or unopened messages.
ELA forwards old/unopened messages in the event service is interrupted.)
- 64 MBytes in the Maximum Mailbox
Size field. This is the maximum amount of voice storage the
system allows for a mailbox. Use the drag down box to select
the unit measure, MBytes.
- Enter the maximum size, in MBytes, of
a call answer message in the Maximum Call Answer Message
field. If you are unsure what size would be appropriate, enter
1 MByte.
Note: An ELA list cannot receive a call answer
message unless you administer the ELA mailbox number as
an extension on the switch and set the call coverage path
to the S3400 Message Server hunt group.
