The initial networking tasks to be performed on the Message Storage
Server (MSS) are usually completed by the technician when the Avaya™
S3400 Message Server is initially installed. See Chapter 3, "Powering
up the system and performing initial MSS administration," and
Chapter 5, "Completing initial administration on the MSS,"
in the Installation Guide
(pdf) for instructions on how to perform the following initial networking
tasks:
- Setting up network addressing
- Administering Message Core:
- Setting up the MSS host machine profile
- Setting up the trusted servers
- Placing the MSS in the Windows domain
- Setting up remote access on the MSS:
- Administering PPP logins and passwords
- Activating the RMB modem (optional; for international external
modems only)
- Setting up the PPP server configuration
- Performing acceptance tests
