Tips for using this Help system

This topic contains tips for using this Help system. The tips are as follows:

  •  The Modular Messaging Help Home page is divided into two sections:
    • Menu bar. This section is displayed across the top of the page and contains the following links: Print, Back, Fwd (Forward), Close, Home, and Search the Help. This section also contains links to four main topic areas: Getting Started, Administration, Maintenance, and Reference).
    • Index. Displays a list of all the available Help topics organized by the four main topic areas.
  • The four main topic areas are as follows:
    • Getting Started. Provides basic system information such as system installation instructions, basic system description, Messaging Application Server (MAS) basics, Message Storage Server (MSS) basics, and tips for using the Help system.
    • Administration. Provides links to topics that describe how to administer the various features and capabilities of the system.
    • Maintenance. Provide a list of links describing the system hardware, system alarm and event logs, and procedures for diagnostic and troubleshooting tasks.
    • Reference. Provides links to Subscriber and Print Guides.
  • The Search link on each page provides access to search capabilities of every html help topic in the collection.
    • Use the basic Search to quickly search through the titles of all html topics.
    • Use the Advanced Search to search through every word of every html topic in the collection. The Advanced Search topic is large and takes longer to open in the browser.
    • User guides that are provided as PDF files are not included in the Search database. Within a PDF file, you can use Acrobat Reader's search capabilities to search that PDF file. Click the Find button (binoculars) on the Acrobat toolbar.
  • Use the scroll bar at the right to scroll down the page so that you can read the rest of the topic.
  • Link. A link is a navigation device. Links allow you to move quickly to another area of the current file or to another file in the Help system. Links are indicated by blue underlined text. With a single click, links can take you to graphics, procedures, or tables. Links can also take you to other areas of text where you will find related information. Move your pointer over any part of the blue underlined text. The pointer changes to a finger. Click anywhere in the blue text to activate the link.
  • When viewing the Help, you can maximize the Help page of your browser or resize it for easy viewing.
  • You can use most functions of the browser, such as:
    • Click the Back button to return to a previous topic.
    • Use the Print feature to print a topic.
    • Use the Edit > Find feature for finding specific information in a topic.
