Attendant Main Menu Editor properties - auto attendant

To configure the automated attendant main menu for a voice mail domain, use the Attendant Main Menu Editor tab. The automated attendant main menu helps callers find their way around the telephone user interface by prompting them on how to proceed. For example:

“For sales, press [1], for technical support, press [2], for accounting, press [3].”

Important!   Make sure you have recorded the Auto Attendant Main Menu prompt and made a note of the prompt number. For information on recording the Auto Attendant Main Menu prompt, see Custom Prompts.

To display the Attendant Main Menu Editor tab:

  1. In the Voice Mail System Configuration window, click the voice mail domain.
  2. Double-click Auto Attendant.
  3. The system displays the Auto Attendant - Voice Mail Domain dialog box.

  4. Click the Attendant Main Menu Editor tab.

To configure the attendant main menu properties

  1. Complete the following fields on the Attendant Main Menu Editor tab:
    • Auto Attendant Main Menu Prompt  Enter the number of the main automated attendant prompt recorded in Visual Voice Editor. The range is 0 through 9999. The “Please enter the mailbox of the person you are calling …” prompt is played by default.
    • Note: The Auto Attendant Main Menu Prompt is unavailable if a languages have been selected in the Language/Key Association tab.
    • Keypad Digits [1] through [9]  Select a keypad digit to configure. You can configure keypad digits [1] through [9] ([*], [#] and [0] cannot be configured.)
    • Key Settings:
      • Invalid  Select to indicate an invalid option. Use this setting if you do not want to associate an action with the key press. All key settings are invalid by default.
      • Directory  Select to allow the caller to use the Dial by Name service when the keypad digit is pressed. A caller can search for a subscriber extension or mailbox number by spelling the person’s name using the telephone keypad.
      • Message  Select to allow a caller to leave a voice message when the keypad digit is pressed, followed by the extension number. This feature is called Quick Message.
  2. Transfer to: Mailbox Number  Select to allow the caller to transfer to the mailbox number you enter in the Mailbox Number field. This option is useful for transferring callers to particular departments, for example, “For technical support, press [2]”.
  3. Note: This mailbox number can be associated with a caller application.
