VMSC - VMD - Telephone User Interface - Dial By Name Tab
|
Use the Telephone User Interface dialog box, Dial By Name tab to configure the way in which names are stored in the front end database (FEDB) to facilitate the Dial By Name feature. This is where callers can spell out a recipient’s name on the telephone keypad.
If the FEDB contains names that are not easily mapped to a telephone keypad, for example, if you are using a far eastern language, you should configure Dial by Name to map the recipient’s e-mail address instead of their first name and last name.
To open the Telephone User Interface dialog box:
- In the Voice Mail System Configuration window, click the voice mail domain.
- Double-click Telephone User Interface. The system displays the Telephone User Interface dialog box for the selected VMD, with the General tab active.
- Click the Dial By Name tab.
To configure Telephone User Interface Dial By Name properties, complete the following fields:
- Match names using Select the method to use, when matching names using Dial By Name.
- Lastname, Firstname Stores the subscriber’s last name followed by their first name. This is the recommended setting.
|
Note:
If you select this option, when all the last names in the directory have been found, the system searches e-mail aliases for matches.
|
|
- E-mail Address Stores the subscriber’s e-mail address. This enables you to use Dial by Name for names that contain characters that do not appear on the telephone keypad.
|
Note:
Avaya recommends that you use this setting, only if the FEDB contains names that are not easily mapped to a telephone keypad. Enter only the first part of the subscriber’s e-mail address (before the @ symbol) for example, JSmith.
