Adding a new external host

The external host file lists the remote machines directly connected to the MSS for which DNS is not used. You can modify the external host information after installation to add a remote machine to the list.

To add a new remote machine to the list of external hosts:

1. Starting from the MSS Messaging Administration menu, select Basic Administration > TCP/IP Administration > External Hosts Administration.

   The system displays the External Host Administration page. The table on the page lists the IP address, host name, and alias (if defined) of each remote machine directly connected to the MSS.

2. Click Add.

   The Add a New External Host page displays.

3. For IP Address, enter the IP address of this machine.
4. For Host Name, enter the Fully Qualified Domain Name of the networked machine (for example, etmach.loc.avaya.com).
5. Enter an optional Alias for this machine.
6. Click Save to add the entry to the list.

   The system displays a message that the information has been saved.

7. Click OK.

   External Host Administration page displays the updated list of external hosts.

8. Click Return to Main to return to the Messaging Administration main menu.
