VMSC - VMD - Dialing Rules Dialog Box

Note: For a detailed overview of voice mail domain configuration in the Voice Mail System Configuration (VMSC) application, see Overview of VMD Configuration in VMSC.

This topic describes how to use the Dialing Rules dialog box to configure Dialing Rules for the voice mail domain.

With Dialing Rules, local subscribers are given the option to either reply to call-answered messages from remote subscribers, or to return the call. You can configure rules for recognizing the remote subscriber’s calling party number so that the option to return the call is given, and configure the rules for returning that call.

Note: Remote subscribers belong to a different Modular Messaging voice mail domain within the enterprise. For the Modular Messaging system to identify callers as remote subscribers, their telephone numbers need to be mapped on the Avaya Message Store Server (Avaya MSS). For more information, see the Avaya Modular Messaging MSS Administration Guide.

You can use the Dialing Rules dialog box to manage a list of dialing rules and configure the codes used to dial outside of the local dialing plan, outside the local area codes, or an international number.

Note: You must add dialing rules for all telephone numbers. Message recipients cannot return calls to numbers that do not match any dialing rule.

Launching the Screen

  1. In the Voice Mail System Configuration window, click the voice mail domain.
  2. Double-click Dialing Rules. The system displays the Dialing Rules dialog box for the selected voice mail domain, with the General tab active.

Configuring the Screen Controls

Note: To configure this dialog box, you must be a member of a security role assigned the Telephony - Administer task. If you are a member of a role assigned the Telephony - View task, you have read-only access to this dialog box. See VMSC - VMD - Security Roles Dialog Box.
