Administering SNMP trap destinations

This topic provides information about administering SNMP Network Management Stations (NMSs) to receive Avaya alarm and event notifications (traps). Customer NMSs that are used to monitor system alarms are also referred to as secondary NMSs.

Note: Up to 32 NMSs can be configured to receive (but not to acknowledge) Avaya alarm and event notifications.

If you are administering alarm management via SNMP, you must administer your primary NMS for alarm notification on the Configure Alarms page. You can administer secondary NMSs even if you do not administer the Configure Alarms page to send notification via SNMP.

You can perform the following administrative tasks for an SNMP NMS to receive alarm and event notifications (traps):
