Administering subscriber interfaces

The following table lists the subscriber interfaces of Modular Messaging and information about administering each interface on a system-wide basis. For more information about any of the subscriber interfaces, see Concepts and Planning (pdf).

Subscriber interface Administration information
Avaya Speech Access

Enable the appropriate TCP/IP ports on the MSS. For more information, see "Updating the IMAP4 password and system protocols" in Chapter 3 of Installation and Upgrades (pdf).

Administer Avaya Speech Access as a trusted server on the MSS. For more information, see Administering Avaya Speech Access as a trusted server.

Telephone user interfaces

  • Aria for Modular Messaging
  • AUDIX for Modular Messaging
  • Serenade for Modular Messaging

The telephone user interfaces can be enabled, configured, or both using the VMSC program. For more information about the VMSC program, see Chapter 2 "Voice Mail System Configuration (VMSC)" in the Avaya Modular Messaging Software - Messaging Application Server Administration Guide (pdf).

The type of telephone user interface is assigned to subscribers on a class of service (COS) basis. For more information, see the online Help for the "Edit a Class-of-Service" page of the MSS Web Administration interface.

IBM Lotus Notes client

Enable the appropriate TCP/IP ports on the MSS. For more information, see "Updating the IMAP4 password and system protocols" in Chapter 3 of Installation and Upgrades (pdf).

IMAP4 and POP3 standards-based clients

Enable the appropriate TCP/IP ports on the MSS. For more information, see "Updating the IMAP4 password and system protocols" in Chapter 3 of Installation and Upgrades (pdf).

Microsoft Outlook clients (including Subscriber Options)

  • Microsoft Outlook Client
  • Restricted Microsoft Outlook Client

Enable the appropriate TCP/IP ports on the MSS. For more information, see "Updating the IMAP4 password and system protocols" in Chapter 3 of Installation and Upgrades (pdf).

Web Client

Enable the appropriate TCP/IP ports on the MSS. For more information, see "Updating the IMAP4 password and system protocols" in Chapter 3 of Installation and Upgrades (pdf).

Administer the subscriber features for Modular Messaging Web Client using the Modular Messaging Web Client Administration user interface. For more information, see the online Help that is included with the Web Client Administration user interface or Modular Messaging Web Client Administration and Maintenance on the Modular Messaging Web Client software CD-ROM.

Web Subscriber Options

After you install the Web Subscriber Options server or activate Web Subscriber Options on an MAS, complete initial administration tasks. For more information, see "Completing initial administration" in Chapter 3 of Modular Messaging Web Subscriber Options Server Installation (pdf).
