Administering SNMP NMSs for alarms

This topic provides information about administering SNMP Network Management Stations (NMSs) to monitor system alarms. Customer NMSs that are used to monitor system alarms are also referred to as secondary NMSs.

Note: Up to 32 NMSs can be configured to receive (but not to acknowledge) Avaya alarm and event notifications.

If you are administering alarm management via SNMP, you must administer your primary NMS for alarm notification and acknowledgement on the Alarming Administration page. To access Alarming Administration, start at the Administration menu, select Basic System Administration > Alarming Administration. You can administer secondary NMSs even if you do not administer Alarm Management to send notification via SNMP.
