Return to Task List

Standard Reliability

  1. Insert the 48MB, PCMCIA (orange) card in the TN2404 (Netcon/Pkt Intf) circuit pack's slot.

  2. Type upgrade software and press Return to upgrade the system software.

  3. Do not press Return again.

  4. When the system beeps, it is prompting you to put the original translation card in the TN2404 (Netcon/Pkt Intf) circuit pack's slot.

Note: You have 2 minutes to replace the software card with the translation card. If you miss this window, the system comes up without translations. Correct this by inserting the original translation card into the TN2404 (Netcon/Pkt Intf) circuit pack's slot and use the reset system 3 command at the SAT.

High and Critical Reliability

  1. Insert the 48MB PCMCIA (orange) card in the standby SPE.

  2. Type upgrade software and press Return to upgrade the system software.

  3. Do not press Return again.

  4. When the SAT beeps, it is prompting you to put the original translation card in the standby SPE.

    1. Remove the orange card and replace it with the translation card.

    2. Remove the translation card from the active (other) SPE.

    3. Insert the 48MB PCMCIA (orange) card into the other SPE.

Note: You have 2 minutes to complete the preceding steps. If you miss this window, the upgrade aborts, and you must begin again with Step 1 in this section.

SPE interchange occurs (active and standby sides swap roles) and the new software is present on the active SPE.

  1. When the SAT beeps, remove the orange card and replace it with the translation card.

Note: You have 2 minutes to replace the software card with the translation card. If you miss this window, no corrective action is necessary. Wait until the system is able to achieve active/standby state.

  1. At the login prompt, log into the switch as craft.
