9600 Series IP Telephones

All 9600 Series IP Telephones currently support the H.323 signaling protocol. The 9620 and 9630 can alternately be configured to support Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), as covered in the Avaya one-X Deskphone Edition for 9600 Series SIP IP Telephones Administrator Guide (Document Number 16-601944). This document covers only 9600 Series IP Telephones supporting H.323.

The H.323 standard provides for real time audio, video, and data communications transmission over a packet network. An H.323 telephone protocol stack comprises several protocols:
