View Summary Status screen

Use this screen to quickly see virtually everything you need to know about Avaya media server status. State-of-health/status information about your server includes:

To view overall status information about the media server:

  1. In the main menu under Server, click View Summary Status. The following information appears:

  2. Duplication status. Information about server duplication appears on the top part of the screen. Because the Avaya S8300 media server does not support duplicated servers, you can ignore these fields. Normal values are shown in Duplicated and remote server fields.

  3. Status of this server. Information about the server's mode and state of health appears on the bottom left side of the screen. S8300 configuration status includes:

Mode. This field indicates the server's operational status as follows:

Active. The server is running Avaya MultiVantage call-processing software.

Not Ready. Either the server is initializing, or the call-processing software is not running even though the server's Linux operating system is.

Major Alarms. This field indicates whether or not there are any outstanding major alarms on the server. If alarms are present, see the View Current Alarms screen.

Minor Alarms. This field indicates whether or not there are any outstanding minor alarms on the server. If alarms are present, see the View Current Alarms screen.

Control Network. This field shows the currently connected and total number of IPSI-connected port networks controlled by the server. This field is not used by the S8300 server configuration. A value of 0 / 0 always appears.

Server Hardware. This field indicates the hardware's state of health as follows:

Okay. No hardware failures have been found.

Degraded. Hardware failures have been found.

Blank. The system has not yet determined whether or not there are any hardware failures.

Processes. This field indicates the state of health for server subsystems as follows:

Okay. All processes monitored by the watchdog process are capable of being restarted.

acp_fail. The Avaya call-processing (ACP) software process has failed.

srv_fail. A non-ACP platform process has failed.

crit_os. A critical operating system service has failed.

Blank. The watchdog process is not running.

Status of remote server. Information about the duplicate server (if present) appears on the bottom right side of the screen. These fields are not applicable to the S8300 server configuration. Normal values are shown in Duplicated and remote server fields.

  1. To refresh the screen periodically:

  2. Click the radio button for Display repeatedly every __ seconds.

  3. Select the number of seconds to wait before a screen refresh (or optionally accept the default value).

  4. Click View.

  5. The status results are refreshed every few seconds, based on the value you selected from the drop-down box. The "Display repeatedly" option disappears from the View Summary Status screen until the next time you access it from the main menu.

Duplicated and remote server fields

Because the Avaya S8300 media server does not support duplicated or remote servers, you can safely ignore these fields. Normal values for these unused fields appear below.

Duplication status. Information about server duplication appears on the top part of the screen, even though a duplicate server is not installed. Normal values are:

Duplicated? no

Standby Busied? no

Standby Refreshed? no

Standby Shadowing: off (no link to the other server)

Duplication Link: init (neither server is capable of contacting the other)

Elapsed Time since Init/Interchange: 0 days and 00 hours, minutes, and seconds (never done)

Duplicated? no

Standby Busied? no
