This is the first screen of the Install New Software wizard. You run this wizard whenever you upgrade software on the server.
You can install new software from a laptop computer in the server room, an administration computer over the network, or a remote computer using a PPP dial-up connection.
You may need to install new license or authentication files when you install new software. See Software installation at a glance for details.
To install new software:
Log in to the server.
In the main menu under Server Configuration and Upgrades, click the Install New Software Release link.

If a software installation is already in progress, the wizard displays the screen that it is currently on. You can continue the installation from that point, or Cancel and begin the software installation again. See Software installation at a glance for details. |
The Choose Software screen appears. This screen identifies the release of software that the server currently is running. This release will remain on the inactive partition when the software upgrade is complete.
If the system cannot locate software installation files, an error message appears. To resolve this:
If the software has previously been downloaded to a Services laptop or other computer, copy it to the server's FTP directory using the Upload Files to Server screen or Transfer files using FTP procedure.
Occasionally you may be directed to download files from another server in the network.
When the server locates the installable software files, it displays a list. Software may be located in the following places:
The FTP directory on the server's hard drive (contains uploaded or downloaded files)
The /releases subdirectory on the server's hard drive (this contains the current software load that the server is running, and is used only to reinstall the current version of software)
Click the radio button next to the software release that you wish to install.
Typically you install new software from the server's FTP directory.
You may wish to reinstall the software release that is currently running the server if you have experienced problems or have been directed to so do by Avaya services.
Click Continue.
