Avaya S8700 Media Server

In a typical configuration you connect to the network through a port on the back of the Avaya S8700 Media Server, using a standard CAT5 cable with RJ45 connectors on each end. Typically for an IP Connect configuration, you connect through port 1 (Eth0). (See CAT5 cable connected to a port on the back of the Avaya S8700 Media Server). For a Multi-Connect configuration, you connect through one of the available 4 ports on the network interface card (NIC), typically the one corresponding to Eth4.

The other end of the cable connects to an Ethernet switch (router), hub, or token ring.
