The following list describes the major sections in this book:
Chapter 1, Maintenance Strategy provides a brief description of system functionality and maintenance strategy for the Avaya G700 Media Gateway controlled by an Avaya S8300 Media Server or an Avaya S8700 Media Server.
Chapter 2, Alarming , Chapter 3, G700 Traps , and Chapter 4, Media Server Alarms , taken together provide a treatment of the approach and management of alarming on the G700 and the S8300, as well as a listing of traps generated by the G700 and server alarms on the S8300. Procedures to be used to resolve these traps and alarms are tabulated.
Chapter 5, G700 Component Maintenance , describes maintenance procedures for G700 components, including the S8300 Media Server, Media Modules, and other procedures unique to the G700 Media Gateway.
Chapter 6, Avaya Communication Manager Controlled Maintenance , presents information on maintenance procedures controlled by Avaya Communication Manager. Commands specific to the G700 are described, and an alphabetical listing of Maintenance Objects (MOs) associated with the G700 and Media Modules can be found. Specific test procedures are described in detail in these MOs.
Chapter 7, License and Authentication Files , describes license and authentication files as they relate to the G700 Media Gateway controlled either by an S8300 or an S8700 Media Server.
Chapter 8, Access and Login Procedures , describes the various ways of connecting to, and logging into, the S8300 Media Server and the G700 Media Gateway.
Chapter 9, G700 and Media Module LEDs , presents detailed information on the LED panels found on the G700, as well as each of the Media Modules, including the S8300 Media Server. LED function and interpretation are described, and differences from traditional LED indicators are highlighted and explained.
Appendix A identifies tests and procedures that are inappropriate on the G700, as well as capacity constraints and feature limitations that distinguish the G700 from DEFINITY server counterparts.
Appendix B presents a complete listing of command line interface (CLI) commands for the G700 Media Gateway Processor (MGP), which play an important role in many of the maintenance procedures for the G700.
