    CS1K 7.6--Routing Service Gateway document - R7.6 SP5

There is a new CS1K document published for the validation activity done in parallel with R7.6 SP5, for the “Routing Service Gateway” aka RSG.

The RSG is simply a specific configuration used as a means of facilitating migrations from older NRS based environments to newer SM based environments. This helps in a customer network where some switches are older than R7.5 – as R7.5 and R7.6 are the only software releases on CS1K side that can be directly connected to SM.

One CS1K node in the network is upgraded to R7.6 and becomes the RSG. This RSG node then has one SIP GW talking to older CS1K systems via NRS; and a second (new) SIP GW talking to upgraded CS1K / Aura systems via SM. Over a period of time more CS1K systems are upgraded and move from NRS to SM connectivity, until the NRS can be removed. The RSG can also be used in case of a migration of CS1K systems to Aura over time.
