IP OFfice - Block long distance - with exceptions

    Good day,

we have just recently installed the IP Office at our site and I need to know how to restrict certain phones that are in plant areas that we do not wish long distance calls to be made from, with the exception of certain numbers.

Right now, I've been able to bar long distance with short code applied to the specific extensions (we use 8 to access outside line):

    81xxxxxxxxxx

I believe I will still need to add international prefixes, but before I get too far into this, I require the ability to allow for some preset numbers to go through, which I would like to program as buttons on the phones, such as:

    1-905-555-1234

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

That's easy just continue doing what you're doing, add a short code for 819055551234 and do a Dial instead of a Call Barred. The system will match the most explicit short code, so a number like 819055551234 will be matched before 81XXXXXXXXXX since it's more explicit.

Is it really using the most explicit shortcode? I want to do it that way but it doesnt work...

        I created a shortcode 90N -> call barred
and another one 901234N -> dial

Whatever I dial its always going out.... as soon as I delete the exception 901234N all long distance calls are barred... as soon as I add the other code it will not check anymore the number at all........

        anyone?

I prefer to do it through the ARS tables.
Copy and paste your current 50-Main table, and call it Restricted (or some such)
          Have code entries for 11 / Dial Emergency / 911 / 0 and 911 / Dial Emergency / 911 / 0 as usual

          Delete everything else

Add 0N; / Barred / / 0 to block calls to the telco operator

          Add your local 7-digit dialing prefixes, like 245XXXX / Dial 3K1 / 245N / 0 and so forth

          Add toll free prefixes, like 1800XXXXXXX / Dial 3K1 / 1800N / 0

          Add your allowed telephone numbers, like 19055551212 / Dial 3K1 / 19055551212 / 0

Now go to the User, and the Short Codes tab, Add 9N / N / Dial / 51 (or whatever route your new restricted ARS is)
