Avaya 2550T / Nortel Device Manager

    Hi,
I was wandering if someone could help me and steer me in the right direction. I work for an organisation where we have roughly 200 to 300 nortel switches, mostly 5510. Since Nortel no longer exists we have now been buying Avaya switches. I was wandering since we have bought the Avaya switches, do we automatically get licenses for the Avaya version of device manager or are we allowed to download the Avaya version of Device Manager? I have attempted to download from the Avaya download site but it appears you need to prove that you have purchased or have a relationship of sorts
Is the Avaya version of device manager backwards compatiable with nortel switches such as the 5510? and is it compatible with windows 7?
thanks in advance for any help in these matters
    Gavin

I'm not sure which Device Manager you're talking about. But I think it's safe to say that for EDM or JDM you're okay since those don't requuire a licence. They are the basics tools that come with the switches.

As for compatibility of the tools, it's all about the software version. Check for the release note for which software to use to manage the switch.
