Default Please help with 'To VMail' softkey on AVAYA 1608

Hi everyone,

I'm a student employee at the Oregon Tech IT Helpdesk. The ‘To VMail’ key, circled in red below, doesn’t work on several phones. The ‘Answer’ and ‘Ignore’ keys right beside it work just fine. Does anyone know how to get the ‘To VMail’ key to work or where I could find a manual for this type question? That is an AVAYA 1608 IP phone and I'm using AVAYA Site Administration 6.0.07 SP9.03 to manage phone settings.

Post Sending an Incoming Call Directly to Voice Mail

Take a look at this please and see if it helps:

Sending an Incoming Call Directly to Voice Mail
Press the To Vmail softkey to send an incoming call directly to voice mail without
answering.
Note:

(This section) --> In order to do this, your voice mail must be administered as the first entry in your coverage path. See your system administrator for more information.

Please check whether you have a coverage path administered in station form.

Post Administered Send All Calls (SAC) feature

Also please make sure you have administered Send All Calls (SAC) feature.

To find Avaya userguides and manuals, you may visit: http://support.avaya.com website.
You may search for the 1600 Phone category and look for userguides and administrator guides.

I hope these info helps/.

Thanks guys! I have some more questions.

In the following booklet entry (I've found that "manual" before and have a problem calling it a manual, 'cause it's bullocks), what does "your voice mail must be administered as the first entry in your coverage path" mean?

Sending an Incoming Call Directly to Voice Mail
Press the To Vmail softkey to send an incoming call directly to voice mail without
answering.
Note:
In order to do this, your voice mail must be administered as the first entry in your coverage
path. See your system administrator for more information.

Post display coverage path xxx

I am sorry to hear about your challenges with the user's manuals.

station
********
- On the station (the extension used for the phone), there is a field where the coverage path is specified. This field points to another form called "Coverage path" where different destinations may be administered as coverage points.
To see the coverage path for a station,. on the Avaya Aura communication manager administration interface (SAT) you may issue the command: "display station xxxx" where xxxx is the extension of your station. on the first page you will see the coverage path number. the field is called: "Coverage Path 1"

Coverage path
*****************
Note down the "Coverage Path 1" field value from the previous form and then you may issue the command on SAT: "display coverage path xxx" where xxx is the coverage path number, at the bottom of the form there is a section that is called "Coverage points". that's the point 1 where the voice mail should point to.

You may compare the settings of a station that has the "To VMail": working and one that is not working.

I hope this helps you get the resolved.
regards
Arbi
