Default 9640 never goes idle on ipo500v2

New to Avaya and am stumped on this one.

I have a 9640 on IP office. It appears that the phone never goes into an idle state. If I set screensaveron to 1 minute in the 46xxsettings, after 1 minute, the screen saver jpg comes on briefly but disappears when the clock advances to the next minute. I also do not see the soft key idle features that have been set. Seems the idle timer is reset every minute.

Interestingly enough, when the system first boots, all required files are downloaded ( upgrade and settings) and the phone displays the idle screen with the emergency soft key, half moon key for display, but after 3 seconds this disappears and I get all the feature buttons set in IPO manager software.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated, my gut tells me this has to do with the way I have things configured in IPO.

What version of IPO are you running? I have recently learned that the 96xx series phone will only work properly with 7 and up

96xx sets: (All settings added to 46xxsettings.txt file)
In the Manager folder is a default screen saver. To enable it or if you are going to add a custom Screen Saver, you will need to change this section of the file:

################ AVAYA SCREEN SAVER SETTINGS ###################
## Idle time before the Avaya Screen Saver is activated (minutes).
## Number of minutes without phone activity to wait
## before the screen saver is activated. A value of 0 means
## the screen saver is never activated. The default is 240 minutes.
## This parameter does not apply to 16cc SIP phones.
## Note:
## This setting activates the Avaya Screen Saver which is
## different than the "idle screen" accessed by WMLIDLEURI.
## While it is possible to use WMLIDLEURI as an "idle
## screen", it is recommended that the SCREENSAVERON
## timer and the Avaya Screen Saver display be used for
## screen saver purposes.
## // Upload your logo.jpg with a maximum size of 160 x 320 pixels

Default 9640 never goes idle

Hi Thx. for the reply. Running 7.0 (27)

Screensaveron and screensaver file references all set in the 46xxsettings file.

Actually if I set the screensaver timer for 1 minute, after boot I do see it go idle and the jpg screensaver image is displayed for a few seconds. It disappears as soon as the time changes on the phone. Its as if the screen clock updates are keeping it awake, hence why I only see it for a brief moment.

Not a big deal, just something that gnawing at me.

Probably next step would be to try a s/w upgrade.

Appreciate the responses.
