We have about 50 Avaya 1608 phones which have been all working fine, however lately a good few of them have just been dying. Switching off and we cannot get them to switch back on.
They are powered by POE Cat 5 cables and have been working for a few years without any bother.
To troubleshoot we have replaced the cables to the wall port, tried another wall port which is known to work, and even tried connecting directly in to the Avaya phone switch. So the fault is definitely with the phones.
On a few occasions we have connected them up and left them connected for a few days like over the weekend etc, then they have came back on but this is completely random and as soon as you disconnect they will not power on even if they are left connected up for a few more days.
Has anyone any ideas on how to get these back on or are they just dead? We currently have over 16 dead phones which would be good if we can get them back on instead of just buying new ones.
Cheers Adam
