    False Alarm - Fan (5650)

    Hello,

We have received (and continue to receive) false alarms for a fan failure in one of our 5650s. I see there was an advisory posted regarding false fan alarms for the 2450 (and patch was made available). I cannot find any advisory regarding the 5650 nor can I find any mention of it anywhere else. Can anyone tell me if this is a software bug and if so, is there a patch available to download and install on the 5650? Looks like this condition occurs almost every day.

    From SMARTS:

Yet when we check the device, we see no problems:

    Hello Richard,

Software Version 6.2.1.003 that currently is in use is very old. Too much bugs was fixed since SW 6.2.1 was released. You may read ‘Problems Resolved in This Release’ chapter in all next release notes for SW 6.2.x to find if there are is something related to Fan Failure issues. The latest available SW version is 6.2.8.

    Best regards,
    Andrey

I also think that the sw upgrade might help to fix the false alarms.
