All Avaya IR system software is pre-installed and tested at the factory. The information provided in this section explains the procedures for installing the system software from CD media if it is necessary after your system arrives from Avaya. For example, if your system experienced a catastrophic hardware failure, you will need to follow the steps in this section to reinstall the base software.
Another method of installing the software system is to restore the system from backup, which may be preferable if you have applications, data, and feature administration that also needs to be restored. See Restoring the system from backup for more information.
Note:
Many of the software installation prompts and menus require the use of function keys. Typically, if the function keys do not work, you can use them by pressing Ctrl+F then pressing # where # is the function key number. If the terminal type is xterm, then use the following procedure so the function keys will work properly:
1. Type export TERM=xterm and press Enter.
2. Type export SMTERM=xterm and press Enter.
