Install the CWY1 Board

This topic covers the following items:

Logging into the S8300 System Administration Terminal (SAT) Command Line through Telnet

To login to the S8300 SAT command line:

    1. From your laptop connected to the services port of the S8300 Media Server or a customer P.C. with a connection to the S8300 Media Server's LAN, click the Start button on the lower left corner of your P.C. desktop.

The P.C. displays the Start menu.

    2. Click the Run option.

The P.C. displays the Run window.

    3. Type telnet <S8300_IP_address> in the Open field, and click OK. Instead of the IP address, you may also type the full domain name of the S8300 server (for example, S8300.dr.acme.com). If you are connected through the services port, use 192.11.13.5.

The P.C. displays the Login prompt in the Telnet window.

    4. Type the login name in the Login field. Use craft, cust, or another login administered for the S8300 Media Server. Do not use sa or vm, which are for the INTUITY AUDIX system.

    5. Type the password in the Password field, and press ENTER.

The P.C. displays the Linux command line.

    6. Type sat and press ENTER.

The P.C. displays the Login prompt for the S8300 SAT command line.

    7. Login again as in Steps 4 and 5.

The P.C. displays the SAT command line.

Shutdown and Turn Off the S8300 Media Server

You must perform a graceful shutdown using your laptop or the customer's PC before powering off the system. The system does not have an on/off power switch. Disconnecting/reconnecting the system to its power source is accomplished by unplugging or plugging the power cord from/into its electrical outlet.

    1. At the S8300 SAT command line, type shutdown and press Enter.

When the shutdown process completes, the system displays the following message:

    2. Unplug your PC from the S8300 services port.
    3. Unplug the G700 from its power source.

Connect the CWY1 Board to the S8300 Media Server

    1. On the front of the box, unscrew and remove the two thumb screws that attach the S8300 face plate to the G700.
    2. Make sure you have your wrist strap on, then grasp the S8300 so you have a firm grip on the LED panel and S8300 board at the same time.
    3. Gently and firmly pull out the LED panel and S8300 together.
    4. Place the S8300 board on a static-free surface.
    5. Complete Steps 6 through 9 to assemble the CWY1 and S8300 board (see CWY1 and S8300 Assembly).
    6. Attach each of the two standoffs to the top of the S8300 from the back of the S8300 using two of the four screws provided in the
kit. Make sure the screws are tightened securely; that is, until firm resistance is met.
    7. Turn over the S8300 board and position the three female receptacles on the CWY1 board over the three connectors on the S8300 board.
    8. Press gently and firmly until firm resistance is met, thereby securely positioning the CWY1 board on the ICC.
    9. Use the remaining two screws to attach the CWY1 board to the standoffs. Again, make sure the screws are tightened securely.
    10. Align the LED panel and the S8300 Board and push both (together) back into the guides, gently and firmly until the fronts of the boards align correctly with the front of the unit.
    11. Reattach the S8300 faceplate with the thumb screws.

Reconnect the Power and Bring Up the System

    1. Plug the G700 power cord back into the designated electrical outlet.

The system power comes on and the system boots up.

    1. Verify that the yellow ACT LED on the S8300 board and the green CPU LED on the G700 Media Gateway are lit.
