Polling for BGP, Interface Status

The CNA link monitor process can be configured to poll the edge router at a specified interval to determine whether the status of the BGP peering between the router and your ISP is up, down, or unknown, and whether the status of the link through which the peering is established is up or down.

This data is used by the CNA decision-maker process to detect link outages. If a router’s BGP status is declared to be unknown, the CNA system will immediately stop all route assertions and enter into report-only mode. See Link Outage Control in Chapter 3: Adaptive Path Control of the CNA Adaptive Path Controller Guide for information about BGP status. See the section Route Assertion in the same chapter for information about report-only mode.
