The link-monitor process obtains BGP status information by examining the bgpPeerStatus variable in the edge router’s BGP MIB.
While still in link configuration mode (config-engine-link), add the following commands to the configuration:
Avaya_ANS(config-engine-link)# polling bgp-status interval 30 Avaya_ANS(config-engine-link)# polling bgp-status unknown-threshold 5 Avaya_ANS(config-engine-link)# polling bgp-status on
The unknown threshold command is used by the CNA decision-maker process to determine the validity of an unknown status report from the link monitor. If the threshold is set at 5, the BGP peering will not be considered down until the link-monitor has reported a status of unknown five consecutive times.
If you want the CNA system to poll a different SNMP agent for BGP status, use the polling bgp-status snmp-agent and polling bgp-status interface-ip-address commands when configuring the SNMP agent on the link.
