Before polling for link usage data, you need to add the specific details of your service provider contract to the link configuration, with the following CLI commands:
Use the usage-reporting billing-period command if your billing cycle begins at a time other than midnight prior to the first day of the month.
At any time during the billing period, you can execute the show link billing command to see what your bill would be based on usage from the beginning of the period to the current time.
Usage data is also used to generate the Link Billing snapshot report and the Bandwidth and Billing type trend reports. See Chapter 2: Reports in the CNA Reporting Guide.
The polling usage unknown-threshold command is used by the engine module for load optimization. If the link monitor fails to obtain usage data a user-specified number of consecutive times, the CNA decision-maker process will conclude that there is no load information available on the link. This prevents transient, non-fatal SNMP errors from shutting down the load optimization process.
